Street Bakery Greggs has started using paper bags with a ‘vegan key’ on the back, according to Vegan Food UK.
Vegan food United Kingdom is an online organization that shares news, reviews, vlogs and more on vegan foods. It operates on multiple social media platforms, with a Facebook group, Facebook page, Youtube channel, and Instagram account.
Sharing a photo of a bag on Instagram, the group said: “This may be in response to a number of people who have served non-vegan steaks – I hope that works!”

Pictures show the bag says ‘enjoy our vegan range’ on the front.
On the reverse side there are small images of the different pastry designs featured on the sausage rolls and vegan steaks.
The vegan versions have a slightly more elaborate pattern cut into the dough than the meat version.
‘Take measures’
Vegan Food UK co-founder Liam Day said Plant news that sharing the vegan key on the bags is a positive step forward.
“Vegans who are being served non-vegan foods can be devastating,†he said, “so we’re very happy to see Greggs take action to make sure that doesn’t happen. But of course, more can always be done.
